When seemingly platonic best friends Gen and Clem find a series of love letters written between their great-grandmothers in the 1930s, they go on a quest to uncover more about their hidden relationship, getting more than they bargained for when forced to examine their own relationship.
Pink and Tinged with Lavender is a celebration of young female friendship and young femme queer love, both of which are so often belittled and widely disregarded in the LGBTQ+ community in favor of male queer identities or seen as "just a phase" that young women go through.
As a bisexual woman, I have grown up feeling incredibly invalidated and sexualized due to both my gender and sexuality. I wanted to make a film that romanticized queer femme relationships and gave agency back to queer women. I took inspiration both from my relationship with my own best friend and from eccentric historical figures I admire. Additionally, I wanted to flip the tropes of most queer Hollywood movies by allowing the modern couple's struggle to come together not surround coming out. In short: I told the story I wish I had while growing up.
