Seeking catharsis after a particularly nasty break-up, a college student and her two best friends use Zoom as an opportunity to go undercover in a frat to expose the secrets that lie within.

IMDb

Boys Will Be Boys is inspired by the canon of “chick flicks” I grew up watching: John Tucker Must Die (Thomas, 2006), Legally Blonde (Luketic, 2001), Clueless (Heckerling, 1995), Mean Girls (Waters, 2004), and many more. From a young age, these films empowered me and made me feel as if I could do anything. However, society repeatedly puts down films such as this because they are associated with the feminine realm. They are seen as not real art or legitimate films. I’ve used this film to combat that and uplift feminine genres and female characters, as well as work against films in the “boys will be boys” genre, such as Animal House.

Additionally, Boys Will Be Boys explores the toxic masculinity of not only fraternities, but other masculine spaces that exercise and reinforce the patriarchy. The fraternity depicted in Boys Will Be Boys is based entirely on true experiences at colleges attended by my peers and I; the actions of the men in Boys Will Be Boys should open the eyes of all audiences who watch.
