13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview

December 2016
When two college recruiters at a prestigious university need to fill one last spot to keep their jobs, thirteen eccentric, dimwitted and slightly-insane high school seniors are eager to come in for an interview.
In the turmoil of applying to college, I created a one-act festival at my high school and directed its inaugural play, 13 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview by Ian McWethy. My first experience directing, this production allowed me to learn on the spot how to create a director’s vision, how to plan the logistics for every detail of an entire production, and how to work with actors. It was just after a long day of rehearsal for this production that I received the news that I had been accepted to Stanford, my now alma mater. This play will always hold a warm place in my heart, as an important learning experience and relic of that era of my life.
